Lab 2: Part B
Slicing and Dicing
Form
Spring 2020
In this lab we needed to load our model into Slicer for Fusion 360 and produce a physical model using the laser cut pieces the program extrapolated from the rhino file. I originally was going to do stacked slices made of cardboard but I found some sturdy poster paper and went with interlocked slices to produce the form more closely to the original model.
The outcome looks very good but I regret using the interlocking slices method because of the difficulty assembling the model. The first try with radial slices obscured the logo and it collapsed on me several times. I also had to modify some of the center pieces so that it can fit into the model's structure. Overall I think it looks really good, but next time I would go with stacked slices with cardboard cutting at a strategic angle to show the logo the best.
